The basic costume was the pierrot costume of the original Joan Littlewood production with her modifications: Sam Browne belts for officers, evening stoles for ladies at the ball

The set was the Bandstand as in the Regents Park Open Air Theatre production with a rostrum stage left and the screen behind.

The bandstand allowed for keyboard, drums, cornet, clarinet and would have held the prompt and the slide show presenter. However the last two moved elsewhere because of the configuration of our stage.

The orchstra should not be distracting; this was achieved by having a high rail to the bandstand and a close lattice effect for the sides. The roof and the Merry Roosters were suggested.

The rostrum worked well to give a second layer and the screen was visible because all were aware of it from the first reheasal. The slides were the hired ones.
